CIRB Approves Name Change to "Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau"

Indian Wells, CA, February 7, 2011 - The CIRB Board of Directors approved changing the organization's name to the "Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau" during its annual business meeting. The organization has been known since its inception as the Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau, but the name change reflects the current direction of the organization.

"CIRB's Executive Committee has deliberated this over the last several months, and we decided that the new name more appropriately describes the nature of the organizations efforts and membership. We are primarily a trade association that represents crop insurance companies and reinsurance companies and brokers, rather than a research-oriented organization, so we're pleased to be known as the Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau," remarked Sam Scheef, Chief Executive Officer at ARMtech Insurance Services and Chairman of the CIRB Executive Committee.

The organization will continue to be abbreviated as "CIRB." Three representatives from the reinsurance industry current hold seats on the Executive Committee.

"CIRB has become known in the industry for its strong ties to the commercial reinsurance community. Our connection to the reinsurance industry is reflected at all levels of our membership, so we felt that it was the right time for this change," said Michael Torrey, Executive Vice President of CIRB.
