Biotech Yield Endorsement Presentation Added to CIRB Annual Meeting Agenda

USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA) recently announced that the pilot Biotech Yield Endorsement (BYE) will be implemented beginning with the 2008 crop year in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota. The new product developed by Monsanto raises many questions and some trepidation in the insurance industry. To get a better handle on BYE, CIRB has invited Timothy D. Hennessy of Monsanto to speak at its January 30-Feb2 Annual Meeting in Hawaii and provide more information and be available to answer questions.

CIRB's strong program will also include Washington insider Jim Wiesemeyer, vice president of Informa Economics will provide a "soup to nuts" analysis of the Washington ag scene. Mike Torrey of Torrey and Associates, CIRB's federal affairs representative and Mary Kay Thatcher from the American Farm Bureau Federation will talk about the recent Farm Bill and its effects on crop insurance; CIRB's legal counsel, Kurt Henke and others from the Henke-Bufkin law firm form a legal panel to address legal issues and their impact on companies; John Reinman will once again monitor the always popular reinsurance panel made up of the most respected names in the field. Deputy administrator Jim Callan of the Risk Management Agency will provide the RMA update and Jack LaValla will introduce the revised educational materials designed for ag educators.
