		FCIC Board appoints acting chairman Dr. Mark Keenum was named to serve as acting chairman of the FCIC board of directors at the board's November 29 meeting in Kansas City. Keenum is USDA under secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Service (FFSA). His appointment will be effective December 22 and will continue until a full-time chairman is elected after the first of the year. It is expected that deputy chief economist for USDA Joe Glauber will be appointed to the permanent position as soon as his responsibilities with the Doha round of negotiations conclude. USDA Chief Economist Dr. Keith Collins has served as FCIC board chairman since 1999 and will be retiring after the first of the year.
