Glauber chosen to chair Federal Crop Board


Dr. Joseph Glauber, USDA deputy chief economist has been selected to serve as Chairperson of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. Dr. Glauber is currently a member of the FCIC Board and was chosen by the Board at its meeting in Washington, DC on February 7. Glauber has served as Deputy Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture since 1992. He is the author of numerous studies on crop insurance, disaster policy and U.S. farm policy. Prior to his current position, he served as senior staff economist for agriculture, natural resources and trade at the President's Council of Economic Advisers as an economist at the Economic Research Service, USDA.


Glauber received his Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1984 and holds an AB in anthropology from the University of Chicago.
