Nov. 22, 2008 (McClatchy-Tribune Regional News delivered by Newstex) -- Farm Credit Services of America is teaming up with the South Dakota Corn Growers to host meetings in six towns to discuss cutting-edge information for today's crop producer.

This three-hour program will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 1 in Aberdeen. Other meetings will be Dec. 1 in Watertown; Dec. 2 in Huron and Mitchell; Dec. 3 in Yankton; and Dec. 4 in Sioux Falls. Pre-registration is required. Specific times, locations and registration details can be found at www.growingforward2009.com or by calling the nearest Farm Credit Services of America office at 1-800-884-FARM.

Steven D. Johnson, farm management specialist with Iowa State University Extension, will be the key speaker. He will share information to help producers gain an understanding of the crop prices and input costs so they can plan for 2009, according to a news release.

"While much of the focus has been on crop prices recently, I expect more attention this winter to be on controlling costs," Johnson said in the release. "To avoid a big down-turn in profits in 2009, producers will need to find new ways to minimize increasing costs, improve crop market strategies and select the right risk management tools for their operation."

FCSAmerica crop insurance specialists will also present information.

Eide Bailly will complete the lineup of meeting presenters. An Eide Bailly business adviser will offer producers insight into key estate and tax implications.
