BRIEF: Oberlin conference to address improving crop production

Dec. 30, 2008 (McClatchy-Tribune Regional News delivered by Newstex) -- The latest technology, methods and conservation practices to improve crop production will be the topic of a conference this month in Oberlin.
The event, Jan. 20-21, will be held at the Gateway Civic Center. Attendance is necessary for only one day, because the same information is provided on both dates.
Key topics will include weed strategies in grain sorghum, wheat residue management, crop insurance, advances in breeding technology, yield forecasts from satellite images, marketing, storage and plant nutrition.
The conference is sponsored by Kansas State University Research and Extension and the Northwest Kansas Crop Residue Alliance.
